Results of an opinion poll published by Ljubljana's Delo daily on Saturday show that at a referendum set for June 6, 58 percent of Slovenians will vote for a Croatian-Slovenian border arbitration agreement, while 43 percent will vote against.

The leading Slovenian daily says that 39 percent of registered voters will take part in the referendum.

The opinion poll, covering 60 respondents, was conducted last week by Delo-Stik agency.

Most Slovenian agencies which have lately published opinion polls on the matter say that the proponents of international arbitration in the two countries' border dispute have a mild advantage over its opponents, however, one-third of voters are still undecided.

The campaign leading to the June 6 referendum ends next Saturday.

In the referendum campaign, the Slovenian government is advocating the final confirmation of the arbitration agreement so that it could become valid, while the opposition claims that international arbitration in the border dispute is bad for Slovenia's interests and should therefore be rejected at the referendum.

The Croatian-Slovenian border arbitration agreement was signed by the two countries' prime ministers, Jadranka Kosor and Borut Pahor, in Stockholm on 4 November 2009.
