Gale-force winds and harsh winter conditions disrupted power supply in Zadar County on Friday night, leaving about 6,000 people in the northwest of the county without electricity.

The nearby islands of Pag and Rab were also left without electricity, and the HEP power company said power supply would be restored as soon as weather permitted.

The Mayor of Zadar, Zvonimir Vrancic, said that the city was prepared for a new wave of snow, forecast for this weekend.

Traffic was disrupted on roads and motorways in the Lika and Gorski Kotar regions and in Dalmatia, and ferry services plying between the Adriatic islands and the mainland were also suspended.
