A total of 964 tax debtors named on the Tax Defaulters List paid HRK 54.82 million in overdue taxes by the end of August, a report published by the Ministry of Finance on its website earlier this week shows.

The taxpayers in question include those who settled their debt in full or reduced it below the amount that serves as a criterion for inclusion on the list.

The latest figures show that 299 taxpayers were removed from the Tax Defaulters List after paying their debt in full. They paid a total of HRK 21.69 million in tax liabilities. At the same time, 665 taxpayers paid a total of HRK 33.13 million in liabilities, reducing their debt below the inclusion criterion.

On July 31 the Tax Authority made public a list of over 102,000 legal entities, small private businesses and private citizens who had not paid their taxes for more than 90 days.

The list contained the names of 7,124 companies which each owned more than HRK 300,000 in taxes and contributions, or over HRK 15 billion in total; the names of 13,066 small business owners owing HRK 100,000 each, or HRK 4.4 billion in total; and the names of 82,180 private citizens with tax debt exceeding HRK 15,000, or about HRK 10 billion in all.
