Easily one of the best clubs in the world, Barcelona, has confirmed on their official web portal (www.fcbarcelona.com) that they will be playing a friendly in the Croatian city of Split on July 25, 2011. HNK Hajduk Split will celebrate the club’s 100th anniversary with the match.
However, the friendly clashes with the Copa America and fans will not see the world’s numero uno Lionel Messi run out on to the Poljud pitch.
In addition to Split, other cities on Barça’s list of friendlies for the summer of 2011 include the Audi Cup in Munich and a US tour with matches against Manchester United in Washington, AC Milan in Miami and Club America in Dallas.
The celebratory friendly against Barça, however, comes with a price, as the media report a fee of €2 million for a rather costly birthday party.
