New Kosovo Alliance leader and prominent businessman Behgjet Pacolli was on Tuesday elected by the Kosovo parliament as the new president of this youngest European state.
In the first two rounds of voting, his nomination was not supported by the required two-thirds majority and in the third round, he secured the support of 62 members in the 120-seat parliament.
Pacolli was immediately sworn in to a five-year term in office.
In attendance were 67 deputies, as members of parliament coming from the ranks of opposition parties boycotted today's session.
