Milorad Dodik, the president of the Serb republic, one of the two entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Sunday evening reiterated that his entity would secede from the country by political means and without resorting to weapons.

Dodik was quoted by the local media as saying that "to that end, the generations will fight only through political system", ruling out the sabre rattling, as indicated by Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic.

Komsic has said recently that anyone who cares for Bosnia and Herzegovina will take up arms and defend the country if Republika Srpska (RS) attempts to secede. Replying to the direct question from the press as to what would happen if incumbent RS President Dodik indeed attempts to realise his threats to secede that entity, Komsic said that in that case not only would Bosniaks defend the country but many more people would, including himself.

"Anyone who thinks that this won't be the case, if they do attempt to secede a part of the country, is a fool", he said, adding that what had happened between 1992 and 1995 had not been forgotten.

Dodik replied that such rhetoric of Komsic and other politicians in Sarajevo was actually propelling the Serb entity towards its independence.

He also promised his party's oppositions to attempts from Bosniak politicians and from some circles of the international community to abolish institutions of the Serb republic.
