The Bulgarian parliament is expected to ratify Croatia's EU Accession Treaty on Friday, and the ratification will also be attended by Croatian Parliament Speaker Boris Sprem, the Croatian and Bulgarian parliaments have announced.
The Bulgarian parliament has said on its web site that the first item on the agenda of its plenary session on Friday will be the ratification of the Croatia-EU Accession Treaty.
Sprem told the media on Tuesday he had been invited to Bulgaria to attend the ratification procedure and address members of the Bulgarian parliament.
Sprem is also expected to hold bilateral meetings during his visit.
Italy will reportedly ratify Croatia's Accession Treaty in the coming days, said Sprem.
So far, the Accession Treaty has been ratified by Slovakia, on February 1, and Hungary, on February 13.
Croatia signed the Accession Treaty on December 9, and its ratification in all EU member countries is expected to be completed by 30 June 2013. The following day, 1 July, Croatia is expected to join the EU.
