Serb Christian Orthodox believers, who observe the Julian calendar, congregated in the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Zagreb on Thursday evening for a Christmas Eve service with the traditional consecration of the Yule Log.

The service was led by the head of the Metropolitan of Zagreb, Ljubljana and entire Italy, Jovan Pavlovic, who greeted the congregation with "May the peace of God be with you - Christ is born!"

In his prayer, Metropolitan Pavlovic called on the faithful to observe the laws of the Gospels just as Christ taught.

Believers were invited to a morning liturgy on Christmas Day on Friday.
