Concert to mark anniversary of death of basketball legend Petrovic

Twenty years ago today, one of the greatest Croatian athletes of all time, Drazen Petrovic, died in a car crash in Germany.

On this occasion, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a concert at the Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall in the Croatian capital on Friday evening.

Under the baton of maestro Pavle Despalj, the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra will play Haydn, Albinoni and Mozart, fitting for a man who was nicknamed ‘Basketball’s Mozart’.

Petrovic was a Croatian professional basketball player. He initially achieved success playing professional basketball in Europe in the 1980s before joining the American NBA in 1989. Petrovic died in a car accident at the age of 28.
