Croatia loses to France in European men's final

France won the 2010 European Men's Handball Championships in Vienna on Sunday evening, beating Croatia in the final 25-21.

France became the first team to win Olympic, world and European gold medalsin a row.

Croatia captured its third medal in the European handball championshipsafter winning a silver in Norway in 2008 and a bronze in Portugal in 1994.

Among a crowd of 11,000 spectators in the Stadthalle were senior governmentofficials, including Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Croatian Prime MinisterJadranka Kosor, Finance Minister Ivan Suker, Science, Education and SportMinister Radovan Fuchs.

Earlier in the day, Iceland took a bronze medal after beating Poland 29:26.
