Croatia records 282,792 unemployed people in July

A total of 282,792 unemployed persons were registered with the Croatian Employment Bureau at the end of July, which is 3,048 persons or 1.1 percent less than the month before or 34,206 persons or 13.8 percent more than in July 2009, the Croatian Employment Bureau has said on its website.

A total of 16,944 persons registered with the Employment Bureau found jobs in July. The number of persons who found jobs in July went up 25.7 percent in relations to the same month the year before, but decreased 1.5 percent compared to June.

In July, 27,087 people were deleted from the Bureau's unemployment list (2.5 percent less than in June and 13.5 percent more than in July 2009).

A total of 24,039 new persons registered with the Employment Bureau in July (39.9 percent more than in June and five percent less than in July 2009).

The unemployment rate went down in most of the counties. The biggest decrease was recoded in Sibenik-Knin county - down 6.5 percent - followed by Dubrovnik-Neretva County (down 6.2 percent), Lika-Senj County (down 4.8 percent) and Split-Dalmatia County (down 4.4 percent).
