According to preliminary figures recently released by local tourist boards, all the Croatian Adriatic counties and the City of Zagreb saw a rise in the number of tourists and their overnight stays in the first seven months of 2012.
The arrivals of tourists in Croatia rose by 3.8% to 6.66 million in the first seven months in 2012 compared to the corresponding period in 2011, and their overnight stays increased 5.4 year on year to 35.87 million.
In the said period, foreigners accounted for 5.8 million arrivals (5.1% increase), and for 31.9 million overnight stays, a rise of 6.6%.
The number of domestic guests went down by 3.9% to 850,000 and their overnight stays decreased by 3.7% to 3.9 million.
The seven coastal counties and the Croatian capital recorded a total of 3.07 million arrivals in July alone, a rise of 1.6% from July 2011, and their overnight stays rose by 5.6% to 21.09 million.
Foreign tourists accounted for 2.8 million arrivals, up 2%, and for 18.9 million overnight stays, up 6.5% on the year.
The increase in the number of tourists and bed/nights in the first seven months was the highest in Dubrovnik County, with the number of guests rising by 9% and their bed/nights increasing by 11%.
In the first seven months, the Croatian capital reported a 5-percent rise in the number of tourists (378,280) and their overnight stays went up by 10% to 681,800.
