Croatia's European Union Accession Treaty, which was signed in Brussels on December 9, was sealed at the Council of the EU building in Brussels on Tuesday, making it possible to send its copies to Croatia and EU member countries for ratification.

The original will be sent to the Italian government, the depositary of European treaties, in March.

Croatia's coat of arms was sealed next to the signatures of Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and former Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, who signed the Accession Treaty, while the coats of arms of the countries of the EU leaders who signed the document were sealed next to their signatures.

Croatia will join the EU on 1 July 2013, after the Accession Treaty has been ratified by all member countries.
