Croatia's registered unemployment rate in March was 21.6%, down 0.3% from February when it reached 21.9%, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.

Year on year, the registered unemployment rate was up 1.6% in relation to March 2012 when it was 20%.

Registered unemployment rates exceeding 21% were previously registered in early 2003. The lowest rate in the last ten years was recorded in August 2008 when it stood at 12.3%.

The registered unemployment rate is calculated as a ratio between the number of job-seekers registered with the National Employment Service and the total active population.
