Croatia and Slovenia on Wednesday jointly registered the bilateral arbitration agreement with the United Nations department of legal issues, the Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry told press on Thursday.

The registration of the agreement with the U.N. means that the two countries can cite the registration before the international court in The Hague or other U.N. bodies. The U.N. Secretariat is keeping records of such documents.

The arbitration agreement, under which Croatia and Slovenia agreed to have an international court solve the the two countries' border dispute, was signed by Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor in November 2009.

All procedural deadlines will start running the day Croatia signs an Accession Treaty with the European Union, which means that the ruling will be announced once Croatia is a full member of the bloc.
