The European Council officially confirmed on Monday that the Accession Treaty with Croatia would be signed at a ceremony just before a Council summit in Brussels on December 9, a statement in Brussels said.
The treaty will be signed by Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and the leaders of the European Union's 27 countries. After the signing, Croatia will attend the European Council summit as an observer.
In the time from the signing to the day of accession, 1 July 2013, Croatian representatives will take part in the work of European institutions as observers. They will be able to take part in discussions but not vote.
