Representatives of 40 Croatian companies attended the 37th Baghdad International Fair, which took place from November 1 to 10, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said in a statement on Wednesday.

The attendance of the Croatian companies was organised by Croatia's Special Mission and the Croatian House of Commerce in Iraq.

During the fair, the Croatian Pavilion organised meetings on energy, food and agriculture, construction, mine removal operations and the military industry. One of the meetings was attended by representatives of the Iraqi Ministry of Industry.

Since Croatia was the partner country, Croatia Day was organised on the third day of the fair and was attended by about 250 Iraqi guests, including representatives of the ministries of industry, water resources, and energy.

The head of the Special Mission to Iraq, Jerko Vukas, informed the Iraqis about possibilities of economic cooperation with the participating Croatian companies and conveyed their desire to participate in business projects relating to the reconstruction of Iraq.

At present, 14 Croatian companies are operating in Iraq, and considering the interest expressed at the fair, further progress in the establishing of business ties between Croatian and Iraqi companies is expected, the statement said.
