The Croatian helicopters that came under ground fire in northern Kosovo suffered no damage, the Croatian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday.
KFOR troops on the ground noticed infantry fire in the flight area of Croatian Air Force helicopters and notified the commander of the Croatian KFOR contingent, but the helicopter crews did not notice any fire being directed against them and the helicopters were not damaged, Defence Ministry spokesman Goran Grosinic told press.
Croatian helicopters operating as part of the KFOR mission are solely used for transport purposes based on orders from the KFOR command and for no other purpose, the spokesman said.
Croatian media said on Wednesday that Croatian helicopters came under fire in northern Kosovo as they were transporting Kosovo police to the border crossings at Jarinje and Brnjak, the sites of Tuesday's clashes between Kosovo police and local Serbs, which left one Kosovo policeman dead.
