The main building of the Croatian Olympic Centre in Croatia's biggest ski resort of Bjelolasica, some 130 kilometres southwest of Zagreb, burned down entirely in a fire that broke out early on Tuesday morning, but there were no casualties, Karlovac County Fire Department commander Dragutin Foschio told media.

The fire was reported at 2.22 am, and its cause is still not known. The police said the fire broke out in the boiler room of the building, which also housed a restaurant and gym.

Foschio said all tourists and hotel staff were evacuated on time and provided with accommodation in other buildings in the resort.
