Croatian parliamentary parties continued talks on Tuesday as part of preparations for an inaugural session of parliament, scheduled for Thursday.

The parties have reached agreement on the number of delegations and deputy speakers of parliament, while the question of how many working bodies there will be in the seventh parliament remains outstanding, Igor Dragovan of the ruling Social Democratic Party (SDP) told reporters after the meeting.

"There is still one dilemma that we needs to be resolved and that is the question of how many working bodies there will be, whether their number will remain at 30 or it will be slightly reduced since the scope of work of the ministries will be slightly different," Dragovan said, adding that the matter would be decided after the formation of government.

Dragovan would not reveal which members of the ruling coalition would be appointed deputy speakers of parliament, saying only that two would be named by the SDP and one by the Croatian People's Party (HNS).

The opposition parties have earlier agreed in principle that both posts of deputy speaker reserved for the opposition will be filled by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
