The Czech Senate is expected to approve Croatia's Treaty of Accession with the European Union next week, after which the document will be ratified by the Czech Parliament, said Jozef Regec, chairman of the Czech parliamentary foreign affairs, defence and security committee, after talks with the head of the Croatian parliamentary foreign affairs committee, Milorad Pupovac, in Zagreb on Thursday.

The Czech Senate will approve Croatia's accession treaty with the EU on 25 April, after which the treaty will be ratified in the Czech Parliament. As far as we are concerned, nothing prevents Croatia from joining the EU next year, Regec said.

He said the Czech Republic will provide Croatia with maximum assistance as it joins the EU.

Pupovac thanked Regec on the support and speedy ratification of treaty.

He told reporters the talks also focused on cooperation within NATO.

Regec invited Pupovac to visit the Czech Republic.
