The State Election Commission (DIP) said that according to information provided by the police, Sunday's parliamentary election was proceeding without incidents.
"We are once again calling on the participants in the election procedure to respect the ban on electioneering and refrain from all forms all electoral promotion," DIP vice president Aleksandra Jozic Ilekovic said after announcing information on the turnout by 11 am.
According to DIP, the turnout at the parliamentary election in the country by 1100 hours was 16.39 per cent, less than in 2007 when the turnout by 11 am was 17.91 per cent.
The turnout by 11 am today was the highest in Karlovac (22.73 %), Osijek (20.68 %) and Zagreb (20.12 %).
The lowest turnout was recorded in Koprivnica-Krizevci County (12.13%) and Brod-Posavina County (12.81%).
DIP will voice its opinion later today about statements which Zoran Milanovic of the Social Democratic Party and Jadranka Kosor of the Croatian Democratic Union aired on Croatian Television gave after voting at their polling stations.
DIP also asked employers to enable their employees working today to exercise their right to vote.
