Disgruntled farmers continued their protest on Friday by blocking roads in several continental counties, announcing new road blocks at several other locations in Osijek-Baranja and Vukovar-Srijem counties, the president of the head of the federation of farmers' associations from Slavonija and Baranja (ZUSSB), Antun Laslo, said on Friday.
Laslo told the press there were no incidents and that traffic was being redirected by local police. He said roads would be blocked at least until Monday when a new round of negotiations is expected to be held between Agriculture Minister Tihomir Jakovina and representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Agriculture (HPK).
Earlier today the Interior Ministry issued a statement calling on protesters to discontinue blocking the roads as this was in violation of the Law on Public Assembly and the Traffic Security Law. Laslo told the media he had no information about the Ministry's press release, adding that the decision to block roads was adopted unanimously on Thursday, after the meeting between Jakovina and HPK representatives ended without an agreement
