Bosnian Serb prime minister Milorad Dodik said on Friday that the Bosnian Serb entity, Republika Srpska, would not take the path of secession from Bosnia-Herzegovina after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) confirmed the legality of Kosovo's declaration of independence from Serbia on Thursday.

"We should bear in mind that North Cyprus declared its independence long ago, but is not recognised. We will not embark on that kind of adventure," Dodik said during a visit to the southeastern town of Trebinje when asked by reporters for a comment on the advisory opinion of the ICJ.

Dodik said that the Republika Srpska authorities would strictly abide by the Dayton agreement, which guarantees the existence of that entity.

Dodik said that the ICJ decision humiliated Serbia and put it in an inferior position. "It's yet another document that humiliates and belittles Serbia, leaving it in a position of constant conflict with the big Western powers which are unjust to it and continue to make unjust legal and political moves."
