Domagoj Ivan Milosevic submitted his candidacy for President of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) at the party's head office in Zagreb on Saturday, saying that at the HDZ General Election Convention on May 20 the 2,200 delegates would vote according to their conscience for what was best for the HDZ and its future.

When asked by reporters how he viewed the fact that some of the candidates had an advantage over him, Milosevic said he did not see it that way. "All 2,200 delegates have the power of decision and co-responsibility in electing not just a president of the party, but other officials as well," he said.

When asked who his deputy and members of his team would be, Milosevic said that over the last few weeks he had been encouraging several people to formally apply for those positions, adding that some of them had already submitted their candidacies and some would do so today.
