Economy Minister Radimir Cacic said on Wednesday Croatians would start living better in 2013 and that gross domestic product growth would lead to higher employment and a better living standard.
"The first step forward will come in 2013, after which I'm sure we will have GDP growth. GDP growth means better living, higher employment and a better living standard," Cacic told Croatian Radio when asked when citizens would start living better.
Asked if he had brought order to public and state companies, Cacic said he had not yet but was working on it. "Public and state companies now generally have new management boards that still have to make personnel steps forward, but their key tasks are to define and launch investments, define restructuring programmes and provide long term strategies, because we want public companies to have a common strategic development platform."
Asked if he supported granting concessions on motorways, Cacic said the state would retain ownership, that it had fixed the prices, that it would control the quality of maintenance over the next 30 years and get additional money to service bridge loans and invest in new projects.
