Croatian Science, Education and Sports Minister Zeljko Jovanovic said on Wednesday that his was the most successful ministry in absorbing EU funds, adding that in six months it had absorbed approximately HRK 200 million, or 66% of the allocated funds.
"There are many projects and it would take me a while to name them all, they concern all universities in Croatia. In the first six months, the Ministry has absorbed 66% of the allocated funds, or approximately HRK 200 million. At the same time we prepared a series of projects worth approximately EUR 260 million and we expect to successfully absorb funds for those projects as well and thus secure more funds for Croatian science," Jovanovic said at a presentation of the research project "Applied Robotics in Neurosurgery".
He underlined that his ministry would increase investment in research and development from 0.75% to 1.4% by 2020, stressing that structural funds would be the source that would enable faster growth for research and development.
