The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area (EA17) was 12.1% in July 2013, stable compared with June and the EU28 unemployment rate was 11.0%, also stable compared with June, the Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union reported on Friday.
"In both zones, rates have risen compared with July 2012, when they were 11.5% and 10.5% respectively."
Croatia's jobless rate went up from 16.5% in June to 16.7% in July.
According to Eurostat's estimates, as many as 26.654 million people in the EU28 were out of job in July. Of this number, 19.23 million were jobless in the euro-zone.
In Croatia, there were 282,000 job-seekers in July.
The lowest jobless rate was registered in Austria, 4.8%, Germany, 5.3% and Luxembourg 5.7%. On the other hand, Greece had the highest unemployment rate, 27.6 % (in May) and Spain, 26.3%.
The youth unemployment rate is still very worrisome, given that nearly one quarter of those aged up to 24 were jobless, 23.4% in the EU28 and 24% in the euro area.
