A former director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Vinko Mladino, was again arrested on Wednesday, nine days after he was released from custody in which he had been placed in November 2010 on the suspicion that he signed contracts with the Fimi Media marketing firm owned by Nevenka Jurak, whereby he siphoned money from public companies and government ministries, and that he also defrauded the Fund by favouring the private "Odlagaliste Sirovina" company.
Mladineo's attorney Milenko Umicevic said on Wednesday that Mladineo was apprehended earlier in the morning and that the police searched his flat.
Umicevic said that they now expected a summons for questioning from the USKOK investigating agency.
Mladineo is suspected of conspiracy to commit crime and of abuse of office, but his lawyer could not say which case was now under investigation.
The Interior Ministry said that the police were conducting an investigation against several people, but declined to give any more details.
USKOK would not comment on the case either.
According to unofficial information, another three people have been arrested on suspicion of making false reports about the purchase of PET packaging products in order to syphon money from the Fund.
