Former Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Jadranka Kosor on Friday said she did not intend to contest the decision by the HDZ's high court of honour to expel her from the party assessing that her expulsion was a political decision by the party's presidency and that the high court just enforced that decision.

She claimed that the high court did not wish to hear her arguments or those of her counsellor Krunislav Olujic, claiming that the disciplinary measures against her were in contradiction to the party's statute and the Criminal Procedure Law.

The decision was made a long time ago in the Presidency and these people were there just to implement the decision and did so in a rush and the summons to the hearing today was even incorrectly addressed, she said.

She objected to accusations that she was publicly critical of her colleagues and that she was only defending the party and herself of accusations that she had neglected the party.

Kosor interpreted her ousting as a message to other HDZ members and MPs.

She added that she would remain in parliament but that she would not submit her candidacy for the European Parliament.
