Associations of Croatian farmers will start protest rallies throughout the country on Thursday but they will not block traffic, representatives of farmers said after their meeting in the town of Nova Gradiska on Wednesday when they expressed their dissatisfaction with the government ignoring their requests for the payment of last year's grants for the agricultural sector.
Farmers' leaders also accused the government of turning a deaf ear to their request for talks on the government's plan to curtail the budget funds for agriculture.
Stjepan Kunovec said that protest rallies would be held at some 50 locations in Croatia, with the largest number of them to be staged in eastern regions.
