European and global football body UEFA said in a statement on its web site released Tuesday that it would not recognize decisions taken by an extraordinary assembly of the Croatian Football Federation (CFF) held on 20 February. Igor Stimac was elected CFF president in the Sunday assembly with 25 votes
UEFA said that it recognized only the existing HNS president, Vlatko Markovic, who was elected to that post on December 17.
"FIFA and UEFA informed the Croatian Football Federation on 18 February that they would not recognise any decisions taken by an extraordinary general assembly held on 20 February. Based on the information provided on 17 February 2011, before the extraordinary general assembly held on 20 February, FIFA and UEFA replied in a joint letter to the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) on 18 February, that as the extraordinary general assembly would not conform to its statutes FIFA and UEFA would not recognise any decisions taken by an assembly held on 20 February. Thus FIFA and UEFA continue to recognise the existing elected president, Vlatko Markovic."
