The Presidency of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Monday expunged from party membership former honorary president Ivo Sanader after his press conference yesterday at which he announced his return to active politics, HDZ president Jadranka Kosor said after a Presidency session.
Sixteen Presidency members voted in favour of the decision, three were againstand two abstained.
Kosor said Sanader was expunged from party membership for causingirreparable damage to the party and violating its statute.
"I accept the Presidency's decision if it is to the benefit of theHDZ," Sanader told Hina.
