The vice president of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), Milorad Pupovac, announced on Wednesday, after a ruling coalition meeting in the government building, further negotiations on items of the agenda which will be discussed and voted on by the end of session of the incumbent parliament, while the president of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS), Josip Friscic, expressed hope that this parliament would manage to finish everything on the schedule.
"We will continue to negotiate on very concrete topics, We shall see what else can be included in the agenda and which issues can be voted on, Once we see that, an agreement will be reached," Pupovac told the press outside the government building, adding that the talks would resume on Thursday.
Pupovac said that the opposition's proposal to vote by the end of this session on five European laws and one European declaration as well as on decision on interim budget and dissolution of parliament was a step forward, adding that now an agreement needs to be reached within the ruling coalition.
"This is what we are working on now," Pupovac said, adding that in his opinion it was impossible to discuss and vote on every item on the agenda before this parliament was dissolved.
Asked if the SDSS would support the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in parliament, Pupovac only said that the talks in the government building on how to create prerequisites for a normal conclusion of the parliamentary session were long and that they also decided that further agreements on laws that were scheduled to be discussed and voted on were necessary.
Asked if a quorum in parliament would be secured, Pupovac said he did not count the hands in parliament.
Asked if he was against the voting on the law invalidating war crimes indictments from the former Yugoslavia and Serbia before the dissolution of the incumbent parliament, Pupovac said his position on this matter was clear.
"We cannot support that law," Pupovac said.
After the hour and a half long meeting with Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, Friscic told reporters that the coalition was not brought in question, especially not eight days before the dissolution of the incumbent parliament.
"I am confident that the HSS club of deputies, the six of us, will be present in parliament on Friday during the voting," Friscic said.
Asked if the law invalidating indictments from the former Yugoslavia and Serbia would be voted on on Friday, Friscic said it was up to the parliament speaker to decided which items to place on the agenda, adding that he had not talked to Speaker Luka Bebic.
Asked if PM Kosor could at this moment count only on HDZ and HSS deputies, Friscic said some negotiations were still under way, adding that they were being held in a positive atmosphere.
