European Union Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele will make an official visit to Croatia on November 24-25 to meet for talks with senior state officials "at an important moment in the relationship between the EU and Croatia, following the publication of the European Commission's Progress Report on Croatia two weeks ago," the EU Delegation in Zagreb announced on Wednesday.
"Negotiations are now in their final phase and EU accession is in sight. But the last stretch of a marathon can be the hardest. I am confident that Croatia has the political will and the ability to make this extra effort. If Croatia achieves the necessary results, it will not be long before Croatia becomes the 28th EU Member State," Fuele said before the visit.
During his visit, Fuele will meet President Ivo Josipovic, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Gordan Jandrokovic. He will also have discussions with the head of the National Committee monitoring EU accession negotiations, Vesna Pusic, Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Zoran Milanovic, and civil society representatives.
The EU commissioner is also scheduled to visit an IPA project funded by the EU.
