A new Slovenian government, which should be formed until 10 February after the parliament on Saturday endorsed Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) leader Janez Jansa as the Prime Minister-Designate, is not planning any radical changes in the Slovenian foreign policy and will be committed to good neighbourly relations with all neighbours, according to the main guidelines of the coalition agreement between the SDS and four more parliamentary parties.

The coalition agreement, released on the SDS web page on Sunday, shows that an international arbitration stipulated by the Slovenian and Croatian border dispute agreement should be treated as "an opportunity" for Slovenia to fulfill its interests.

While Jansa and his party were the main Opposition party, they criticised the agreement concluded by the then prime ministers of Croatia and Slovenia, Jadranka Kosor and Borut Pahor, and the SDS advocated bilateral approach to efforts to the border demarcation.

"The Coalition partners will consistently act for the purpose of the preservation of Slovenia's territorial integrity. In preparations for defining the subject of the border dispute and in the memorandum (filing), Slovenia will base its request on the respect for all historical and other facts, including the principle of equity," reads the document released on the SDS web site.

The lion's share of the guidelines refer to economic recovery measures and efforts aimed at financial stability.
