Gov't adopts final reports on Chapters 23 and 8

The Croatian government on Thursday adopted a report on the fulfilment of the benchmarks from Chapter 23 - Judiciary and Fundamental Rights, the government's press service said in a statement.

The report was adopted as part of negotiations on Croatia's accession to the European Union with the aim of meeting the requirements specified in that policy area, established in the Joint Position of the European Union for Chapter 23, dated 25 June 2010, and the Negotiating Position of Croatia for Chapter 23, dated 19 February 2010.

Also adopted was a report on the fulfilment of the benchmarks from Chapter 8 - Competition Policy. It was adopted with a view to meeting the requirements from that policy area, established in the Joint Position of the European Union for Chapter 8, dated 25 June 2010, and the Negotiating Position of Croatia for Chapter 8, dated 1 April 2010.

The government adopted a report on the Agreement on the Mutual Rights and Obligations of the Shipyards from 2010 to 2020, between the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship and the shipyards Brodogradjevna Industrija Split d.d. of Split, Brodogradjevna Industrija 3. MAJ d.d. of Rijeka, Brodotrogir d.d. of Trogir and Brodogradilista Kraljevica d.d. of Kraljevica, as part of Chapter 8 negotiations with the EU, the statement concluded.

Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor is due to meet ambassadors of EU countries accredited in Croatia on Friday to acquaint them with the report on the fulfilment of the benchmarks from Chapter 23.
