Deputy Prime Minister Branko Grcic has rejected accusations that the incumbent cabinet is anti-entrepreneurial which have been made in response to Finance Minister Slavko Linic's statement that the main responsibility for the poor economic situation lay with business people.
During his visit to the northern city of Varazdin, Grcic, who is also the minister of regional development and European Union funds, said that government ministers were currently on a road-show throughout the country to promote investment potential and to make direct contacts with local business people.
As for Linic's statement that in the past 22 years employers had easily sent workers into retirement, Grcic explained today that Linic had commented on the history of Croatia's economy since the country gained independence and on the privatisation process, including intentions of some buyers to buy companies only to have access to their real estate and not to care for workers and jobs.
Linic spoke about the consequences of such processes for the Croatian economy, Grcic told reporters in Varazdin, warning about the unlawful practices by the owners of some companies.
