The government and trade unions agreed at a meeting on Tuesday to hold seven-day negotiations on a bill of amendments to the Labour Act, during which time the government committed not to put the bill on parliament's agenda.
We will try to agree by next Wednesday on how to improve the Labour Act amendments in accordance with the proposal of the union federations, said Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor.
The first negotiation meeting will take place tomorrow.
Also tomorrow, unions will begin collecting signatures for calling a referendum against the Labour Act amendments, said Ozren Matijasevic, president of the Croatian Association of Trade Unions.
