Croatia can count on the fastest possible integration with the European Union and the use of the bloc's funds, European Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn said in an interview with the Polish daily Rzeczpospolita, ahead of an informal meeting of the EU ministers, scheduled to be held in Poland on Thursday.

Experience from earlier EU enlargement rounds can help us avoid mistakes from the past. Croatia is well prepared and it will receive money from structural funds, Hahn said adding that Croatia would undergo the fastest integration possible.

The Commissioner also said that Croatia, unlike some other countries that have entered the EU, has one less problem, given that it had already built a highway network.

Croatia probably has more kilometres of highways than all other new EU member states, Hahn said.

Hahn also told the daily that representatives from Croatia visited Poland to gather experience about drawing money from EU funds.
