The parliamentary deputy of the regional HDSSB party, Ivan Drmic, was interviewed by police in the eastern city of Osijek on Friday in connection with an investigation of who had attempted to influence Supreme Court judges before they handed down a verdict in the case of former member of Parliament Branimir Glavas, who was eventually sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in war crimes committed against Serb civilians in Osijek in 1991.
Drmic said after the interview in the evening he had provided additional information to the formal complaint he had filed this summer in connection with this case.
Five persons were arrested in Osijek and other cities earlier in the day, and the police said that the investigation found that a group had been formed, involving between 12 and 15 people who conspired to influence the verdict against Glavas by bribing Supreme Court judges.
"The police were fair and they took all the information they were interested in. As Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor would say, let the institutions do their work," Drmic was quoted by Croatian Television (HTV) as telling reporters on leaving police headquarters in Osijek.
