Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) leader Jadranka Kosor has said that she supports the government's efforts to amend the Labour Act (ZOR) and added that she will put forward to the parliament her motion of ZOR amendments from 2010 in order to facilitate the efforts of the current Cabinet led by Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in that regard.
Thanks to Zoran Milanovic and the SDP, who opposed the Labour Act changes in 2010, this was the only measure of the economic recovery programme of my Cabinet which was not implemented, Kosor said at a news conference in Zagreb on Friday.
If we had managed to amend the Labour Act then, today the situation in the economy wold have been much better, the leader of the strongest opposition party said.
Kosor accused the SDP of having manipulated the public in 2010 when, she said, that party falsely claimed that the changes her cabinet had suggested would do away with collective bargaining processes and collective bargaining agreements.
We support amendments to the Labour Act as we have always emphasised that we will advocate while being in the opposition the same things we advocated when we were in power, Kosor said.
Commenting on the legislation on organisation and responsibilities of ministries and state agencies, which was adopted by the parliament earlier on Friday, Kosor said that it remained unclear which functions and powers were awarded to the state office for state property management. She recalled that the AUDIO agency was already managing state property.
"The only explanation is that the First Deputy Prime Minister, Radimir Cacic, is not giving up some of his staff, as this office, which is now being founded with unclear responsibilities, will propose the nominees for public companies' managing and supervisory boards at the minister's proposal," Kosor said, adding that all of that would be done to favour people supporting the SDP and the Croatian People's Party (HNS) led by Cacic.
Asked about problems in intra-party elections in the HDZ branches in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Kosor declined to comment on the matter.
As for her cooperation with President Ivo Josipovic during her term as the country's Prime Minister, Kosor said she would remember only the good times, referring to an earlier comment from Josipovic who also said that he would remember only the good times.
