The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) doesn't have anything against the slate being wiped clean but it seems ridiculous at the start of 2013 to be talking about a "clean start" by this government, HDZ MP and former economy minister Ivan Domagoj Milosevic said on Monday.
Milosevic commented on an analysis report about the situation in 22 government bodies and state companies on 1 January 2012, presented by the government earlier in the day which claimed that the situation in these government bodies and state companies was catastrophic with huge dubiosities and no signs of reform or restructuring.
Milosevic underscored the current problems of growing unemployment and the fall in living standards and purchasing power of citizens which can only be solved through economic growth which, he claims, the incumbent government does not know how to secure.
"It is not clear how this government managed to turn the forecasted economic growth of 0.8% in 2012 into a fall of 1.8% and there is still no explanation how it intends to achieve the planned growth of 1.8% this year", he added.
He said that the incumbent government was "fond of launching various projects but wasn't too fond of completing them which is probably why the 'clean start' took an entire year.
"The government has had a year to implement urgent reforms but this takes know-how which it does not have and the results of the latest public opinion polls show that it losing trust with the citizens", said this MP of the largest opposition party.
