The Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) on Monday presented six videos in which it voices its opposition to Croatia's accession to the European Union and which it will forward to national and local TV stations, demanding that they broadcast them like they did with the government's videos promoting the accession.
HSP president Daniel Srb demanded the videos be given equal treatment and that their airing be paid with taxpayers' money as the government's videos were, especially on Croatian Radio and Television.
In the clips, a farmer, an engineer, war veterans, students, a young businesswoman and a grandmother say why they object to Croatia's EU accession, said their author, Zvonimir Simic, a member of the HSP Presidency.
Srb said he was convinced that some bodies, including the Electronic Media Council, would promptly request that the videos be banned, but added that this would undermine the right of citizens to information.
Srb went on to say that certain truths about what "was negotiated" in the EU entry talks could no longer be kept from citizens, such as the abolishment of the zero VAT rate on bread, milk and textbooks upon Croatia's accession.
