The Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) has asked for First Deputy Prime Minister Radimir Cacic's resignation, given that he was found guilty of causing a traffic accident with two fatalities, the HSS said in a statement on Saturday.
Cacic was found guilty on Friday for a car crash in Hungary in 2010.
A Hungarian court gave him a 22-month suspended sentence with three years' probation.
If the First Deputy Prime Minister does not resign, the HSS asks Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic to force Cacic to resign because the party believes that Cacic's further activities in the government and other state bodies, notably the Supervisory Committee of the oil company INA, would be detrimental to Croatia's interests, the party said in the statement.
Prime Minister Milanovic is a hypocrite for trying to amnesty Cacic from responsibility, when he demanded former minister Mirela Holy's resignation for far less.
