The national oil and gas company INA has paid HRK 1.05 billion of matured debt into the state budget, the Finance Ministry said on Tuesday.
Of that amount, HRK 400 million was INA's debt to the Croatian Motorways(HAC) company, HRK 400 million was debt to Croatian Roads (HC), while HRK 250million was unpaid excise tax.
The ministry said that HRK 800 million was transferred today into theaccounts of HAC and HC, so that the two companies could settle theirliabilities towards suppliers, which in turn would improve overall liquidity.
INA will continue to settle its liabilities towards the state budget, thestatement said.
The payment of at least HRK 1 billion of debt to the state by the end ofthis year is provided for in an annex to the agreement on gas business, whichthe Croatian government and the Hungarian oil company MOL signed on December16, while the deadline for the payment of the rest of INA's debt to the stateis March 31, 2010.
