Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarko on Sunday evening visited the policeman who sustained serious injuries during Saturday's football match between Dinamo and Hajduk. The 33-year-old policeman, who was admitted in the Rebro hospital, lost his left eye in clashes with hooligans at Maksimir stadium in Zagreb.
Visiting the injured policeman, Minister Karamarko expressed outrage at "that bestial attack against the police" while they were doing their job.
He vowed that the police would spare no efforts to trace and identify the assailants.
He announced also changes of the legislation on the police in order to expand police powers.
Several fans and 15 policemen were injured, including one seriously, during and after the match between Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split. Five police cars, two buses and two trams were damaged, and 91 fans (66 Dinamo supporters and 25 Hajduk supporters) were arrested, police said after the incidents.
