Croatian President Ivo Josipovic on Saturday once again expressed satisfaction with the compromise on constitutional changes reached on Friday by the two biggest parliamentary parties, the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP). As for the dissatisfaction of some Bosnian Croat parties with the agreement, Josipovic said that "there will always be those who are more satisfied and those who are less satisfied."
"This is a compromise. I read somewhere today that this is a solution for the next 10-20 years. After that, we may find a new compromise solution," Josipovic said in Tuheljske Toplice during an official visit to Krapina-Zagorje County.
The president thus commented on the HDZ-SDP agreement under which Croatian citizens without permanent residence in Croatia will be allowed to vote only in Croatian diplomatic and consular missions abroad, and the diaspora will be entitled to three seats in the Croatian Parliament.
Josipovic said that announcements that voters in Bosnia and Herzegovina would be allowed to vote over a period of several days was a technical issue.
"The problem was the model of voting that did not instil trust. This (agreement) puts voting back where the state can supervise it," he said.
