Croatian President Ivo Josipovic on Sunday declined to comment on media headlines about the alleged financing of Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) election campaigns from the party's slush fund, saying only that "investigations are being carried out".
"Investigations are being carried out, let us wait for them to be completed and then we will know more what had really happened," Josipovic said at Zagreb's Mimara Museum at a ceremony commemorating the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States.
Commenting on today's commemoration which the U.S. Embassy organised in the Mimara Museum, Josipovic said that every day the world must be a safer place.
"Croatia is sided with the anti-terrorist coalition, we are making our important contribution, in accordance with our possibilities, size and military and economic potential and I believe that the free world recognises us a a serious partner," Josipovic said.
