After a failed meeting with Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor due to anti-government protests in front of the government on Thursday evening, UEFA president Michel Platini at his request met with President Ivo Josipovic.
They talked about violence at football games in Croatia. Platini informed Josipovic about UEFA's decision to give Croatia one year to ensure the holding of football matches without violence among fans. If that does not happen, the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) faces exclusion from UEFA.
If you don't deal with hooligans, you are out of all competitions, Platini told Josipovic, handing him a letter which UEFA also forwarded to Kosor, outlining the conditions which Croatia and the HNS must meet.
Josipovic said he was aware of the issue of rioting at football matches and that the Croatian government had drawn up a new law expected to help solve this problem.
Josipovic will ask the institutions in charge to undertake all the necessary measures so that rioting at stadiums in Croatia stopped.
